Yes, getting in front of the camera can be intimidating.
I understand what it takes to get yourself together for a new headshot. I have to do my own every year. It's not what I consider fun but I know it's a business necessity.
But my studio is a haven. A judgment-free zone. A place where you can be yourself. And create images that are flattering. Photos that show your competence and approachability. Where people will be impressed with your professionalism and energy.
When you come to my studio, we’ll talk about the background of your shoot and your objectives. I’ve prepared several short videos on how to prepare for your headshot that will help you feel more confident and relaxed.
I’ll direct you through a series of poses. Don’t worry, I’ll help you figure out what to do with your hands and make sure your hair is in place. As we move through the session your images are transferred immediately to my iPad, where we review them as we go along. This gives you the chance to make adjustments to your pose, hair or attire, and makes you a true collaborator in the headshot session.
In 2023 I photographed nearly 300 headshots I have a special niche with authors and writers who need headshots for book covers and promotions. My studio’s proximity to Johns Hopkins University means I’m super convenient for professors and academics. And well-known celebrities like mystery writer Laura Lippman have been known to stop by for updated photos.

ESSENTIAL HEADSHOT SESSION

Session fee: $325.
Final retouched images: $25 each

This is the quintessential headshot session. Great for social media, publicity photos, proposals and professional biographies. This 45 minute session can take place in the studio, or on location. Make your selections onsite immediately. Final photos are delivered via online gallery.
SATURDAY SESSIONS
(30 minutes)
Session fee: $250
Includes one free retouched image

Vickie Gray Images is located in the historic Mill Centre, in Baltimore’s Hampden neighborhood. On May 1, 2024, we will be moving to the historic Meadow Mill complex, in Baltimore’s popular Woodberry/Hampden district.
