Al started as a video/film production major at a local community college. After being behind the camera for several semesters he realized that he would rather shoot still photography. Al switched majors in 1988 and never looked back. Starting as a full time commercial photographer’s assistant he eventually made the transition to a full time, self-employed photographer.
Al has photographed everything from portraits, headshots, weddings, pets, product, architecture, documentary journalism and his personal projects. When he’s not photographing you may find Al wandering the streets of Baltimore, always with a camera, meeting people and making conversation with some new friends. “Everyone has a story, and I’m not afraid to start a conversation with someone and ask to shoot their portrait on the spot doing what they do.”
